Let's face it... Heart callings are intense! They often come out of nowhere, seem a little crazy, out of reach, and at times are scary as h-e-double hockey sticks! You have no idea how you're going to make them happen, you just know you have to! For whatever reason, these ideas have been placed in your brain, engraved on your heart, and drive you to keep moving forward with purpose!
I moved back to New York in February to start a magazine for people with injuries and physical disabilities, called Positively Limitless. The idea came to me while struggling to find purpose post op. At the time I hadn't been able to work for three years due to an injury that if treated properly, could have been dealt with or prevented within a couple months. The career I'd known as a Sports Videographer was no longer an option... I can't sit or stand for any length of time, which makes it hard to sustain most jobs. When the idea came to me, I knew I had to see it through! The magazine, and my experiences during my injury with my dog Roxy sparked the idea for "PAWS"itively Limitless. A pet service created to assist both people and pups with injuries and disabilities. Both companies were created with the intent to help build supportive positive communities. The idea for Ladies Who Lemonaid came to me while walking home from Pawsitively's first connect group meetup. The majority of the people that showed up were other women I know starting companies, that came to support me.
Most days I have no idea what I'm doing spending money on trademarks, and other things I can't afford to get these businesses going. What I do know is that they're bigger than me, and could potentially help a whole lot of people, so I can't quit!
My heart wont let me, and neither will my lovely ladies! They speak life into me, and what I'm doing. They're busy amazing ladies, that selflessly support and encourage me in every possible way! Like Katie who met me at JFK the day I moved to help me lug my stuff into the city, because I have a bad back. Therese and Amanda gave me places to stay while I looked for an apartment. Lisa offered her marketing knowledge to get me started. Molly multitasks walking her dog, with much needed strategy sessions. Allie and Christina send me paid work so I can eat. My mom, checks in to see if I'm actually eating. From Clara bear over there in the photo with me, who proofs my websites. To Diana who designed the Pawsitively Limitless logo, and sent business cards she redesigned to include it. My ladies send care packages, love notes, tag me in things I need to see, and pull me out of the muck when I get stuck! They remind me that I'm not alone in this, and that life's all about connecting, and surrounding yourself with people who lift you up, and truly want to see you succeed!
